Responsible Solar Siting Petition

We, the undersigned, formally petition the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission to adopt responsible solar siting policies that protect our land, water, and community.

WE SUPPORT POLICIES THAT:

• Allow small-scale, personal solar installations, such as rooftop and residential systems

• Prohibit ground-mounted solar on prime farmland

• Prohibit ground-mounted solar on highly erodible and sensitive soils

• Protect scenic viewsheds, ridgelines, and culturally significant landscapes

• Require responsible setbacks and environmental review before approval
